I was born on the 24th January 1983 in Leipzig.
Six weeks before the fall of the wall my family escaped by Trabi.
We moved, relocated and settled down in various places.
All the left overs packed in a little box.... You kick my imagination in the air and it floats...
I left Bavaria with tender music in my fingers.
The next years I moved between Nürnberg, Arnhem (NL) and Düsseldorf
Equilibrium - I learned to eat the space...
My roots brought me back to a town connected to my bipolar history of east and west.
Now I joyfully dance a "waltz in Berlin".
ARTISTIC BACKGROUND:
Anna Weißenfels creates performances, sound art and multi-media artworks. Studies for dance and choreography (ARTEZ Arnhem, BA 2007), most recently for alternative medicine (2015-17). Musical education in piano, voice, choral work as well as advanced training for voice anthropology (UDK Berlin, 2011). So far she made installative solo performances, multi-media artworks in cooperation with Youness Atbane, Ixchel Mendoza Hernandez and Lauren Strom-Berg, as well as various choreographic experiments through the initiative VOLK TANZ TRUPPE together with Frauke Gerhard. Research in the fields of voice and movement as the initiator of the Moving Choir, in collaboration with Ulrike Sowodniok and as
a member of the A-cappella-Vocalquintett Ensemble Medulla. She developed the body therapy and teaching method mybodyknows - based on the individual knowledge and memory of the body. In 2018 she intiated the WORRIERS, a cooperative game combining site-specific performance with principles of computer games and survival training - a project with Tom Timmerhoff in collaboration with schloss bröllin e.V. and teatr brama. Last year she has done a number of performances e.g. LIFTED in the frame of Tempelhofer Wald, untitled 14km at MUCEM Marseille, TERPSICHORE in the frame of common grounds at tanzfabrik Berlin. Since 2020 Anna is a pinoeer user at Haus der Statistik - in the heart of Berlin - where she creates site-specific outdoor performances e.g. COSMOS with Daniel Wittkopp, Schwarm 13, Federica Teti & Todosch Schlopsnies / Schlesiche 27. Together with Daniel Wittkopp and Christina Themeli she founded the artist collective COSMOKOLLEKTIV.
